The 1st arrondissement, the beating heart of the capital, is home to its share of institutions and little curiosities. Home to the Louvre, Galerie Véro-Dodat and Maison Aurouze, the district never ceases to surprise! And for those with a sweet tooth, it’s also home to a number of excellent culinary addresses. No need to look any further, here are our favorite local restaurants.
Judy Paris
Already established on the Left Bank, the “qualitative” canteen Judy Paris has set its sights on the 1st arrondissement with the opening of a second restaurant. On the menu? Healthy, gourmet, gluten-free recipes based on fresh produce, with naturopathy at the center of the plate. Chef Dominique Gassin, an Australian naturopath and micro-nutritionist, breathes a special aura into the place, combining health and indulgence. Here, you can sip naturo lattes with collagen or cold-pressed juices, and enjoy typical brunch dishes. Buddha Bowl, paleo pancakes, French toast with homemade almond butter, avocado toast with fermented vegetables, eggs Benedict with red cabbage… What’s more, you can also take it home with you thanks to thegrocery store. Judy’ s got it all!
14 Rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau, 75001 Paris
Alfred
Nestled in the building where Alfred de Musset spent a good part of his life, this restaurant with its traditional cuisine, albeit with a touch of modernity, delights all gourmets in the 1st arrondissement. With its fresh produce and straightforward flavors, the menu offers a multitude of tasty and gourmet dishes, offering a festival of tastes and textures. Our advice? Don’t miss the delicious filet of beef with whisky pepper sauce.
Alfred – 8, rue du Mont-Thabor, 75001
Ippudo
Ippudo is the ramen chain that delights the world. It proves that quality and chain restaurants can sometimes be synonymous. In these veritable express canteens, just like in the little streets of Tokyo, you can enjoy delicious ramen, light or spicy, with fresh homemade noodles and tender meats, all the while “slurping” – the traditional sound ramen makes when tasted.
Ippudo – 74-76 Rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau, 75001
Les Marmottes
In the heart of a high-altitude chalet, with a breathtaking view of the mountains, or at least in a space that immerses us well in this atmosphere, the restaurant Les Marmottes awaits lovers of raclette and other Savoyard specialties. In this warm setting, blending stone and wood, treat yourself to all-you-can-eat raclettes, no less! An experience of pure bliss…
26, rue de la Grande Truanderie, 75001
Sanukiya
Sanukiya, often cited as one of the best Japanese restaurants in Paris, offers one of the most balanced broths in the capital. Served with homemade noodles and fresh ingredients, it’s a must in the heart of the 1st arrondissement!
Sanukiya – 9, rue d’Argenteuil, 75001
Au Pied de Cochon
Au Pied de Cochon, with its Belle Époque decor, Murano glass chandeliers and numerous details dedicated to the pig, charms at first sight. On the menu: canaille dishes, seafood, cochonnaille and much more. Onion soup au gratin, Burgundy snails, grilled pig’s trotter, duck confit, mussels marinière, roast lobster… A selection of the great classics of French cuisine can be enjoyed à la carte.
Au Pied de Cochon – 6, rue Coquillère, 75001
