As you know, the paris metro is full of little secrets. Among the countless underground corridors that make up this Parisian landmark, did you know which connection was the longest in the transport network? A 15-minute itinerary will take you from one station to another without leaving the metro corridors.
15-minute walk for the longest Paris metro connection
When you take the Paris metro, it’s a long way between two lines! Walks that can take forever, so our time in the station is greater than our time in the train.
But what do you think is the longest connection in Paris? The long mechanical walkways at Montparnasse? The maze that is Châtelet-les-Halles or Gare du Nord ? Well no, the prize for the longest underground journey doesn’t go to the main suspects, since it’s the link between Saint-Augustin and Opéra that’s the longest!
In fact, it takes just 15 minutes to walk from one stop to the other. Thanks to the capital’s largest connecting circuit, the two stations are now linked, and we’ll tell you how! From Saint-Augustin station, follow the platform of line 14 until you reach Saint-Lazare and its large circular concourse. Next direction, Haussmann Saint-Lazare station (RER E station) then Auber station after a few minutes of stairs and corridors. After traversing this veritable underground hub and its stores, all that’s left to do is face the seemingly endless escalator and you’ll finally arrive at Opéra station!
To reward yourself after spending 15 minutes underground on an itinerary as fascinating as it is pointless, you can treat yourself to a fine view of the majestic Garnier Opera House…
