In the family of the most charming bucolic escapes less than 100 km from Paris, how can we not mention Giverny? From April onwards, for the fine weather, the House of Claude de Monet reopens the doors of its green-shuttered paradise, just like its gardens of Eden. A new springtime to keep alive the memory of the emblematic figure of Impressionism, Monet.
Giverny, a charming village like no other
Just a stone’s throw from Paris, Giverny offers lovers of pure beauty a timeless escape. This timelessly charming village was Claude Monet’ s home from 1883 until his death in 1926. Roses and tulips as far as the eye can see, nynpheas, an enchanting water garden, a Japanese bridge that invites you to daydream… This dreamlike setting never ceased to inspire the renowned painter. Here, in the studio nestled in his pink house with green shutters, the artist imagined his most beautiful Impressionist paintings, which became masterpieces.
La Maison de Monet reopens for the summer season…
This haven of peace, which we were privileged to visit, is finally reopening for the summer season. From April 1, just as spring is getting underway, Monet’s gardens will be in full bloom again. His picturesque home, meanwhile, will go from winter calm to bustling with activity, as the public strolls through once again. After visiting the Maison de Monet in Argenteuil, head to Giverny for an enchanting bucolic stroll in the footsteps of the garden-loving painter.
