When the sun deigns to shine in Paris, a host of activities are on offer, including beautiful walks all around its perimeter. In fact, the Île-de-France region abounds in small, signposted paths, each more bucolic than the last. This time, we’re heading for the Val-d’Oise and the Sausseron valley, to discover an 8.6-kilometer trail, winding its way between numerous points of interest to the east of the Vexin Français regional nature park. Get your walking shoes on!
A flower-filled hike not far from Paris
Forest of Fontainebleau, morbras River or the Chevreuse Valley are just some of the magnificent estates that surround the Île-de-France region. But for today’s ride, we’re heading for the eastern Vexin, where there’s already a beautiful 17-kilometre itinerary to discover its points of interest. To the east of the estate meanders the Sausseron, a picturesque little river along which our walk is orchestrated.
This 8.6-kilometre loop is the most peaceful way to discover this little haven of peace just 25 kilometers from Paris. From Valmondois station, you follow the path north-westwards before crossing the river and returning to point A by another route. On the way, you’ll pass through fields, forests and small villages with a wide variety of colorful landscapes. A colorful little circuit, where you can appreciate the beauty of the flora. This is one of the most flower-filled walks in the Île-de-France region!
As for the difficulty of the route, nothing too demanding is required to complete these 8 kilometers, which can be completed in an average of 2h30. All you need is a few snacks and a few liters of water. Also, it’s best to choose a sunny day, as the path tends to be muddy on rainy days on certain stretches.
