That’s right, 2024 is behind us! Let’s make way for 2025 and its many surprises. In addition to the change of year, there’s more to come in the months ahead. And some of these changes will undoubtedly have an impact on your daily life! Here’s what you need to know about the changes in 2025!
Luncheon vouchers are limited (again)…
You may have noticed it while shopping recently. Since January 1 of this new year, you can no longer buy non-consumable products with your luncheon vouchers! What’s more, the maximum amount allowed has been reduced from 25 euros per basket to 19 euros. As for the products still eligible with your carte resto, only ready-made meals, sandwiches or, more surprisingly, tomatoes, remain authorized. These measures may be temporary, as an extension of the former use of meal vouchers is currently under discussion and may soon be voted on.
Pass Navigo, metro tickets: new fares for public transport in Île-de-France
This year, the price of metro, RER and Transilien tickets will be the same! You’ll have to pay 2.50 euros to get around.
There are also a few changes to the Navigo pass. The Pass Liberté+ is slightly more expensive, with your journeys costing 1.99 euros and a Navigo day pass costing 12 euros, compared with a previous range of between €8.30 and €20.60. Tickets to the two Paris airports are now €13, up from €10.30 and €16.60.
Finally, our beloved monthly Navigo pass will increase by two euros! That’s €88.80 from now on.
A new metro station
The double extension of line 14 Villejuif – Gustave Roussy should finally be in service from January 18. It will thus become the last station on line 14, and simultaneously the first station on the future line 15 south of the Grand Paris Express!
IDF’s first cable car to be inaugurated
No, no, this is no joke. In 2025, Câble C1 should welcome its first passengers on a 4.5 km route. It will provide air travel between the Pointe du Lac station in Créteil and the Villa Nova station in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges. The ropeway will be able to carry 10 people per cabin and will be connected to line 8!
Better detection of fare evasion on the metro
A new device now enables ticket inspectors to check the accuracy of addresses given by users. In fact, in 50% of all cases, the addresses given by users turn out to be false! According to Le Parisien newspaper, this fraud costs RATP €171 million every year! The new system was launched on January 8.
ZFEs will be reinforced in Paris and other cities…
Low-emission zones will be upgraded this year. The aim is to progressively ban the circulation of polluting combustion-powered cars in city centers by 2030.
In detail, the Paris, Lyon, Montpellier and Grenoble LEZs will ban the circulation of Crit’Air 3 cars. Gasoline-powered cars registered before 2006 and diesels manufactured before 2011 will no longer be allowed on the roads. A measure that should exclude over a million vehicles in France!
The major Île-de-France bicycle network will be extended
By the end of 2025, the first phase of the major bicycle network should be completed. These 300 km of cycle paths will enable users to pedal in complete safety in Paris and its suburbs.
