L’Aquarium de Paris – The world’s first aquarium
Did you know that the world’s first aquarium is French? The Aquarium de Paris was inaugurated in Paris in 1867. Nestled in former quarries that are said to have housed some of Napoleon’s cavalry, you’ll discover some astonishing and sublime species. The Aquarium is also home to Europe’s largest medusarium, as well as a spectacular coralarium where you can admire corals of every color. And for even more enchantment, every Saturday evening the Aquarium offers evening tours until 9pm.

Opened in 2001 to coincide with the opening of the Val d’Europe shopping mall, Sea Life is a firm favourite with families. L’Aquarium de la Cité des Sciences – The Mediterranean Coast Aquarium in Paris
This modest aquarium at La Villette has just three tanks. But its advantage lies elsewhere! Totally free of charge, you’ll see mostly Mediterranean coastal fish, but also Flotsam and Jetsam, the Aquarium’s two “star” moray eels.
