Skiing in Paris may be impossible, but the capital is less than 5 hours from some of France’s most beautiful resorts. So you can enjoy the pleasures of the mountains without having to travel too far from the capital (or almost). Here’s a short list of the most beautiful resorts close to Paris.
Gérardmer
Gérardmer is a pretty town in the heart of the Hautes-Vosges. You can ski on 40 km of pistes for all levels, as well as 30 km of Nordic skiing. What a great time to be had between forest trees and lakes.

La Bresse
This favorite spot for families and amateur skiers is ideally located in the heart of the Parc régional des ballons des Vosges. La Bresse Hohneck offers 33 slopes facing the summit of the Hohneck mountain. Not only can you ski, but you can also go tobogganing or ice skating. And for the more adventurous, there’s Europe’s longest zip line, with a 1.35 km run over the peaks! We also recommend a visit to the pretty mountain village, after a good family ski session.

Jura Mountains

Le Grand Bornand

For a nice snowshoe hike from the village to the slopes, you can follow a circuit designed for this purpose by the resort. Finish off with a raclette and you’re done.
