As the school year begins, there’s no need to leave Paris to take a detour to Tokyo. From August 29 to October 18, 2026, Le Bon Marché is dedicating its spaces to Japan with an exhibition designed to resemble a giant konbini. Visitors will find everything from fashion and design to gourmet specialties, unexpected items, and several collaborations created especially for the occasion.
A giant konbini with over 1,000 Japanese products in Paris
In Japan, konbini are those convenience stores open almost around the clock where you can buy a meal, a magazine, an everyday item, or a treat at any hour. Le Bon Marché is putting its own spin on this concept, with a selection that spans street food, crafts, popular culture, and emerging designers.
On the grocery side, iRASSHAi will bring together more than 1,000 Japanese items, including dashi, hard-to-find condiments, seaweed, snacks, and various pastries. The Aki bakery will be preparing its melon pan—those Japanese rolls recognizable by their sweet, checkered crust.
The kitchen section will also feature tableware from Kinto and Kurabi, as well as Japanese skillets and knives. Those who prefer to eat right there can head to the DOKI DOKI counter. There, the chef will prepare temaki, sashimi, and donburi to order, accompanied by introductory workshops and a matcha-themed café.
The spirit of the konbini will also be reflected in the fashion aisles. Le Bon Marché will feature, among other items, basics from Good On, embroidered sukajan jackets from La Maison Hiroco, foldable Pokeboo rain boots, tabi socks, and traditional bandanas from Kamawanu. The selection is broad enough to range from everyday clothing to much more instantly recognizable Japanese pieces.
Manga, kawaii stationery, and Tamagotchi at Le Bon Marché
A large bookstore section will feature complete collections of iconic manga, as well as Japanese editions, independent fanzines, and coffee-table books. Stationery will also play a prominent role, with a multi-brand selection curated by LOFT.
In the souvenir section, you’ll find Tamagotchis, arcade games, Monchhichi plush toys, Super Yoyos, and plenty of cat-themed items. Le Bon Marché is also preparing a collaboration between Hello Kitty and Friends and the Care Bears, which is expected to be among the most anticipated products.
For nearly two months, “Super Japon” will bring together under one roof everything that makes konbini so unique: practical products, gourmet treats, surprising finds, and plenty of items you didn’t even come looking for.
