Among the capital’s slightly magical spots, JM Vidéo is one of them. This shop in the 11th arrondissement, one of the very last video stores in France, has literally become a mecca for film buffs and lovers of off-the-beaten-path spots. A place where DVDs and Blu-Rays from all corners of the world find their home, ranging from rare gems of auteur cinema to cult classics of the genre. Here, you can rent a DVD, buy your favorite, and above all, chat with a team of passionate enthusiasts—Théo, Manuela, and John—who will be happy to recommend titles and discuss a film, a director, and more. A place for meeting and sharing a love of cinema, an art form that nearly disappeared….
JM Vidéo: France’s last video store
Art house films , forgotten rarities, documentaries, genre films… here, there are no small films! With a massive DVD collection —over 60,000 titles—you’re bound to find something you love. Here , we love taking our time, exploring every corner of the shop in search of a hidden gem to rent or buy.
As the team so aptly puts it: “Every shelf tells a story; every cover can become a gateway to an unknown world.” And that is what makes JV Vidéo unique—and essential today. It helps preserve the very essence of cinema: bringing people together without distinction and stirring the soul. By the way , if the store’s name rings a bell, that’s no surprise—it’s the filming location for the show Konbini Vidéo-Club, recorded every month.

But here’s the thing: since the health crisis in 2024 and the Olympics, this type of independent Parisian shop has been hit hard, leaving them in serious financial trouble. The DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K market is suffering, largely due to streaming platforms…A crowdfunding campaign was then launched, raising over 40,000 euros, with thousands of donors from France and even around the world participating, which helped save the store and its employees.
But the video store will always need your support to expand its collection of rare and expensive DVDs, continue its monthly film club, and modernize its equipment. So this weekend (and all year round), take the time to discover this rare and precious place, where cinema is lived and shared. A favorite spot you’ll never tire of exploring again and again!
