As we all know, the late genius fashion designer didn’t just shine in haute couture. This art enthusiast also loved photography and design. During his long career, he had the opportunity to decorate two suites at the legendary Hôtel de Crillon. A way of showing his very personal vision of Parisian chic.
A hotel room designed by Karl Lagarfeld: the epitome of chic
Karl Lagarfeld was given carte blanche to create two rooms in the exclusive Hôtel de Crillon. These two 335 m² rooms, called“Les Grands Appartements“, offer a breathtaking view of the Place de la Concorde.
At the age of 83, Chanel’s artistic director spared no expense to renovate these two exceptional suites in his own image. An expert in 18thᵉ century antiques, he selected the finest materials. The light-filled living room features bespoke crystal chandeliers, as well as velvet sofas from the finest upholstery houses.
In this immense design space, one thing’s for sure: you won’t lack for comfort. The suite features a spacious dining room for your private dinners, a hyper-contemporary dressing room where you can store your finest outfits, a bathroom with an XXL bathtub sculpted from a single block of marble… As you can see, every detail has been carefully thought out by the designer.
A perfectionist to the last detail, Karl took great care with every room in the suite. For example, the walls of the living room, in carved wood, were painted seven times and then sanded to create a perfectly smooth surface. Certain objects are also reminiscent of his beloved Choupette, such as the carpet with its black “scratches” and portraits of his dear four-legged friend.
While these two “royal” suites are designed for two, you can modulate them to accommodate a third person, or you can combine them to make a single suite. To treat yourself to a night in a luxury room designated by Karl, you’ll need to count…25,000 euros!
