The Paris Marathon is back again this Sunday! It’s an opportunity to see amateur and top-level athletes take to the streets of our beautiful capital. Not taking part this year? The RATP has just the thing for you, with the launch of its “42km” line, bringing together the 34 stations on the route! Here’s everything you need to know!
A metro line as long as the Paris Marathon?
To get the most out of the Paris Marathon, this year RATP is offering two different routes to take on the metro, so you can follow the competition at close quarters.
The first route is aimed at supporters, those who have the sport in their blood or who want to support a loved one. This itinerary features five key stations to follow the athletes up close, and cheer them on along the way! The “Porte Dorée” station will certainly be one of the most important, as it serves the entrance to the Bois de Vincennes. A particularly tricky stage of the race, where the marathoners will already have covered some 11 km and will need all your encouragement.
Prefer to follow the race from afar while admiring the beauty of Paris? Then the tourist course is for you. You’ll pass through four key points of the marathon as you pass through the most beautiful corners of Paris: the Champs-Elysées at the start of the race, the Palais Royal, the Trocadéro (where the marathoners will have just 10 km to go), and of course the Porte Dauphine to watch the finish and applaud the champions.
Which route will you choose this Sunday? In any case, given the numerous traffic restrictions, we’d advise you not to take the car…
