This Sunday, April 13, the Paris Marathon returns! This major sporting event attracts thousands of professional and amateur runners every year. To ensure the safety of the 42 km route, the authorities have put in place a special security system. As you’d expect, this will entail not only traffic restrictions, but also parking restrictions. And this year, six arrondissements are particularly concerned. Find out which ones!
Paris traffic restrictions: here’s where you won’t be able to get around

This Sunday, it’s best to leave your car in the garage. With the Paris Marathon taking up most of the morning’s attention, driving is going to be complicated.

From 7:55 a.m., all the following streets will be blocked off:
- Place de la Concorde ;
- Opéra Garnier ;
- Carrousel du Louvre ;
- rue de Rivoli ;
- place de la Bastille ;
- rue du Faubourg-Saint-Antoine ;
- place de la Nation ;
- rue de Picpus ;
- avenue Daumesnil ;
- route de la Pyramide ;
- avenue de Gravelle ;
- rue de Charenton ;
- voie Georges-Pompidou ;
- avenue de New-York ;
- avenue du Président-Kennedy ;
- avenue de Versailles ;
- boulevard Exelmans ;
- boulevard d’Auteuil ;
- avenue de l’Hippodrome ;
- avenue Paul-Doumer.
Participants will pass through the Champs-Élysées to finish on avenue Foch. If your car or scooter is parked on or near the course, it will automatically be removed by the police. Remember this to avoid any unpleasant surprises!
Of course, after the race, traffic will gradually resume in all the zones concerned. In any case, if you have to take the car early on Sunday morning, think about changing your itinerary!
