For a decade, only Londoners had the privilege of tasting his creations in his two restaurants and five cafés in the British capital. However, the winds of change are blowing through Paris, and the City of Light is about to welcome the first Ottolenghi establishment outside London.
Ottolenghi makes Paris arrival official
It’s official! Renowned Anglo-Israeli chef Yotam Ottolenghi promises to satisfy our Parisian taste buds with the forthcoming opening of his very first establishment in the French capital.
An architect of flavors and a beloved author, Ottolenghi has become the essential reference in the world of cookery books. His singular approach to cooking, in which the most humble vegetables are transformed into veritable works of art thanks to clever blends of spices and condiments, has won over the hearts of Parisian gourmets.
The planned opening, a delight for lovers of levantine cuisine will mark the arrival of a Deli rather than a traditional restaurant. Parisians will be able to enjoy meals on the go or take them away. But the good news doesn’t stop there, as the Deli will double up as a grocery store, offering customers the chance to get their hands on the essential ingredients for certain dishes that are sometimes hard to find in local stalls.
Although the exact location has yet to be determined, the announcement, made at an event at the Hôtel Lutetia for the collector’s reissue of “Jerusalem”, has already created a buzz. Although the project is still in its infancy, the opening is scheduled for some time in 2024, already arousing the enthusiasm of Parisians, who are salivating at the idea of tasting Ottolenghi delicacies in their own city.
