In the heart of the 13th arrondissement, where street art is already well developed, a new work has just blossomed in the urban landscape, and what a work it is! On a building overlooking the Place d’Italie, the world-famous Invader has laid down a new, large-scale mosaic, marking a new landmark in the capital, his favorite playground.
Invader lays huge new mosaic south of Paris
At the beginning of the year, Invader was in the news in Paris thanks to a major retrospective exhibition, but also following the installation of his 1,500th Parisian work on the Centre Georges Pompidou. Today, for the 1,525th, the Place d’Italie has been chosen to host an immense mosaic. Green, white and red, this work brings back the sun of the boot, as Jérôme Coumet, mayor of the 13th arrondissement, pointed out on his X account.
Covering the entire facade of a building overlooking the Place d’Italie, this work becomes one of Invader’s largest in Paris. Depicting a “space invader”, one of the artist’s basic characters, it also represents a return to his roots.
So if you’re passing through the neighborhood, be sure to catch a glimpse of this newcomer to the capital’s street art scene! And don’t hesitate to flash it with your phone, as part of Invader’s life-size treasure hunt!
