Takashi Murakami unveils a monumental work in Paris
Following the successful conclusion of his exhibition at Galerie Perrotin Matignon, Takashi Murakami continues to make Paris his playground. As proof, one of his works can now be found outdoors, in the Bois de Boulogne and the Jardin d’Acclimatation. Decorated in gold, this work represents a parent and child, in the form of the artist’s emblematic smiling flowers.
The structure stands on a white Louis Vuitton trunk, adorned with multicolored logos. For those of you who keep up to date with fashion news, you may have recognized the very first capsule collection between the artist and the brand, back in 2003. A colorful twist on the world of the French fashion house, this capsule created quite a stir, and will be revisited from January 2025.
This is not the first time Louis Vuitton has collaborated with an artist from the land of the rising sun. In 2023, the French brand erected a giant statue of Japanese designer Yayoi Kusama in front of its headquarters, right next to the Samaritaine, not without reaction from many Parisians.
