All around the capital, the richness of the Île-de-France region offers hundreds of hiking opportunities to enjoy once the sun comes out. Vexin Regional Park, chevreuse Valley or the fontainebleau forest there’s no shortage of playgrounds beyond the borders of Paris. Today, we’re heading for the Montmorency forest, a former royal hunting ground, for a 12-kilometre route rich in scenery and beautiful natural sites.
Starting from Bouffémont station, which is accessible from line H, you can begin your walk and discover the estate’s finest treasures, including the Château de la Chasse and its pond, the tour du Plumet and the fountain of Sainte-Radegonde. Your destination is Saint-Leu-la-Forêt station, again on line H. But before you get there, you’ll be able to take in a host of panoramic views, small belvederes and hillocks. In short, all the little things that make a hike so much fun.
Now you’ve got all the ingredients for a great hike. However, you should be aware that this route requires a certain level of fitness and that you need to come prepared. With a positive altitude difference of 540 metres, the route is quite demanding, so be sure to take several liters of water, good shoes and a small snack!
