Who said there was nothing to do around Paris? Île-de-France is full of hidden treasures that would be a shame to miss. Such is the case of the Domaine de Chamarande. An absolutely breathtaking place, little known to Parisians, but well worth the detour. Between its beautiful 17ᵉ century châteauand its immense park, free and accessible all year round, you’ll really feel like you’re somewhere else. Shall we show you around?
A huge free park 1 h from Paris

Classified as a remarkable garden since 2015, the estate’s magnificent park is clearly worth the detour. With its pond, accessible by boat at weekends, and sculpted landscapes, you’ll love strolling through its 98 hectares! In fact, it’s the largest public garden in the Essonne department.
It’s a great place to stroll along its many romantic riverside paths, enjoy a family picnic, walk your dog (always on a leash) and admire various open-air contemporary exhibitions. Right now, and until September 28, artist Stefan Rinck is exhibiting his pop sculptures free of charge in the park, near the orangery.

Although the château is not accessible due to restoration work, you’ll find plenty to do in the park, which is free and open every day. Between shows, family activities and free exhibitions, you’ll never see the time go by.

We recommend renting a rowboat to discover a different view of the estate and enjoy this soothing setting. Available for hire at weekends from 2 pm to 7 pm, you’ll need to pay 5 euros per 30 minutes for a four-person boat. The presence of an adult is compulsory for safe enjoyment.
An undiscovered domain nestled in a green setting, surrounded by water, where you can really get away from it all!
