During the summer, we’re all on the lookout for good deals. Between free gardens, little-known swimming pools and hidden cafés, Paris always has something to surprise you. This time, we’re taking you to discover an incredible museum that’s far less well known than the Louvre, yet not lacking in charm. The Musée Bourdelle, dedicated to the works of the famous sculptor, will impress you with its beauty and soothing surroundings. And best of all , part of the tour is free all year round.
A magnificent, little-known museum in Paris, free all year round
Antoine Bourdelle was an essential sculptor and artist of the XXᵉ century, who marked his time with his talent and style. And it’s in his former workshops, now transformed into a museum, that you can discover some of his most emblematic works. Here, time seems to have stood still, so faithfully has the atmosphere of yesteryear been preserved. From the parquet flooring to the wood panelling, the cosy atmosphere will transport you to another world. The plaster Dying Centaur, one of his best-known works, is on display, along with sculptures in marble, wood and bronze. In all, there are no fewer than 2,000 works of art for you to admire from every angle!

What’s more, since 2023, the museum’s itinerary has been totally redesigned to plunge you into the heart of the artist’s creative process. You can discover monumental works such as Monument au général Alvéar, La France, Héraklès Archer, Sapho and Le Fruit. While sculptures are widely represented, you’ll also find a rich collection of drawings, photographs, paintings and personal objects.

All year round, the permanent collection is completely free and open to all! So there’s no reason not to take advantage.
A museum that extends into its garden
One of the strengths of the Musée Bourdelle is its garden. This 7,000 m² haven of peace offers a beautifully manicured landscape. Lawns, hedges, conifers, boxwood and flowerbeds delight visitors in every season! It’s in this green setting that you’ll find works such as Héraklès archer and Centaure mourant . This space offers an almost meditative experience, where art and nature intertwine with serenity.
After your visit, we recommend a bite to eat at the museum’s café, Le Rhodia, inaugurated in the studio of Bourdelle’s daughter. A very pleasant place to end your visit in style.
