Beware sensitive souls, sharks in sight! The Paris Shark Week, a festival devoted to shark films, is about to tip its fin! On the program on the screens of the Club de l’Étoile: a selection of long films (docu and fiction) to dive into the deeps of the sea and get up close to the king of the oceans!
A film festival dedicated to sharks
A shark film festival? Yes, you read that right! The king of the oceans, an animal as fascinating as it is terrifying for some, will also be king of the screens at Club de l’Étoile. The cinema hall near the Champs-Elysées welcomes the Paris Shark Week team and its program of 100% shark films from September 13 to 15! Objective: to highlight the fish, its fragile environment and nurture its shark culture thanks to a film program and a range of animations and encounters!
Jap Night, sharksploitation theme and conferences
On the bill for these three days of scuba diving: films about sharks in every sense (fiction, previews, documentaries, shorts, screenings in the presence of directors and competition)!
Among the sessions not to be missed are those dedicated to sharksploitation, a sub-genre that focuses on sharks and the attacks they can commit! To discover, the films The Last Breath or Nano Shark.
In particular, Japanese productions will be shown at a Jap Night on Saturday 14/09 from 11pm to early morning: Well Shark, Hotspring Sharkattack or Love Shark. Coffee and croissants will be provided to help you recover from this white night in troubled waters!
To open, the festival will also screen a vintage production, so vintage that only VHS versions remain. So, on Friday 13th, you’ll be able to attend the rather exceptional projection of the documentary The Jaws of Death (by Bruno Vailati), famous not least for a scene where a diver gets his leg bitten off!
Off-screen, conferences led by experts (scientists, researchers, defenders of sharks) to better decipher the illustrious fish! Among other things, they’ll tackle the shark cinema, the threat to whale sharks s victims of collisions at sea or the supposed aggressiveness of sharks towards humans!
