As you know, our beloved metro tickets will no longer be on sale from November 1ᵉʳ. But what if you’ve already bought your booklets in advance? If you have until June 2026 to use them all on the metro and until May 2026 to validate them on buses and streetcars, you should know that there are other tricks to get rid of them before the end…
End of metro tickets in Paris: what to do with your unused tickets?

From November 1ᵉʳ this year, you will no longer be able to buy metro tickets at ticket offices and vending machines. Since October 1, this has already been the case for all buses on the Ile-de-France network. You will then have until June 2026 to use them all on the entire metro/train/RER network.
But it’s also possible to exchange them. According to the Île-de-France Mobilités website , you have until September 1, 2026 to exchange your T+ or origin-destination tickets at the ticket office. This exchange is for a Metro-Train-RER ticket or an equivalent Bus-Tram ticket, “including Origin-Destination tickets to airports, for a Paris-Région Aéroports ticket, on a previously purchased Navigo Easy pass”. Please note that it will be impossible to obtain a refund...
What are the alternatives to the cardboard ticket?

Do you rarely use public transport? There are two solutions for you:
- The Navigo Liberté + pass (available as a physical card or on your phone), which lets you travel on the entire RATP network. The principle? You only pay for the journeys you make the following month.
- The Navigo Easy pass: the solution for occasional travellers. The Navigo Easy pass can be recharged at will, directly at the ticket machines or on your phone . It’s the equivalent of the good old carnet, and is non-nominative. So you can lend it to another passenger if you don’t always need it.
Finally, although the least economical solution, you can buy tickets in just a few clicks directly on your phone via the “Bonjour RATP” application. A solution for those who rarely visit the capital and prefer to travel light.
