You’ll just have to be patient! At the end of September, a huge retrospective devoted to the work of the very talented, and late, Virgil Abloh will be held in Paris at the Grand Palais. Following on from the haute couture exhibition at the Louvre, a major fashion event is once again taking place in Paris this year. For the first time in Europe, you’ll be able to discover the full extent of the designer’s creativity, through mythical pieces, some never before unveiled to the general public.
A Virgil Abloh retrospective in Paris: a first in Europe
Virgil Abloh has irrevocably left his mark on our times, shattering all codes and bringing streetwear into the closed world of haute couture. Presented on September 30, the fashion designer’s birthday, this unique European exhibition retraces more than 20 years of creation, through 20,000 carefully selected multidisciplinary productions.

Entitled Virgil Abloh: The Codes, you’ll discover magnificent creations, including garments of course, but also sneakers, sketches, objects, prototypes… In short, Virgil’s entire universe condensed into a single venue. Through this original exhibition, you’ll learn to recognize all the “codes” so characteristic of Abloh’s work, which can be found in his collaborations as well as in fashion, music and advertising.
“This exhibition is just the beginning of our work to share Virgil’s legacy and principles with the creative community and the world. Sharing his personal collection, unfinished projects and major works with the public is an exceptional way to celebrate Virgil’s legacy and his commitment to making information accessible and collaborative. Through the Archives, Virgil will live on as a source of inspiration and a beacon of creative knowledge,” says Shannon Abloh, Founder and President of the Virgil Abloh Foundation.

Like a love letter to one of the cities that has most inspired him, it ‘s only natural that this retrospective should be held at the Grand Palais this September. Abloh’s memory will also be celebrated through meetings, workshops, performances and screenings on the major themes of the exhibition, which will be open to the public. An exceptional exhibition not to be missed!
