Let’s get moving! Head for Paris and its free spots where you can spend your energy all year round without spending a penny. Parks, basketball courts, skateparks… There’s plenty of fun to be had, plenty of calories to be burned, and who knows, maybe even a little more Olympic spirit?
Free running in Paris parks
Running is one of the sports that doesn’t require much investment to practice. A jogging suit, good running shoes and you’re ready to go! In Paris, many parks are ideal for this sport: Parc Monceau, La Villette, Buttes-Chaumont… There’s no shortage of choice!
Skateparks in Paris
If urban sliding is your thing, then you’re bound to be familiar with at least one of the city’s skateparks. These free sliding zones are suitable for skates, of course, but also for scooters and rollerblades… The town boasts 14 sliding spots to keep you entertained! One of our favorites is on rue Léon Cladel in the second arrondissement. A completely pedestrianized street, offering a safe trail for the whole family.
Fitness areas, for sculpting your body without going to the gym
Who says you have to go to the gym to sculpt your body? In Paris, some sports equipment is an integral part of street furniture. A bit like Venice Beach in the States, but with Haussmann charm instead of palm trees. If you like street workouts, we recommend the Voltiges garden in the Parc de la Villette. It will offer you 1540 m² of sports equipment to prepare your Summer body!

Basketball for free in Paris
Do you enjoy 3×3 or 5×5 basketball? You’re sure to find the right plot in Paris. The town has 23 playing fields, open to all abilities. The only rule is: have fun! We particularly like the Rue Duperré site, which is one of the most stylish in Paris. Nestled between two buildings, this unusual venue was completely revamped and redesigned in 2020. The coating, made of recycled rubber, is perfect to withstand any impact!
Hiking in the heart of Paris, a free sport accessible to all
How about a walking tour of Paris? If you’d like to get some exercise on a sunny day, we’ve put together a 50-km Parisian hike for you. The GR 2024, also known as the GR75, will take you through 9 of Paris’s outlying arrondissements, passing through 70 green spaces. The great thing is that you can start the course just about anywhere! But for those who like to play by the rules, the official starting point is at the foot of the Geode in the Parc de la Villette.
Free cycling in Paris
According to a study, Paris is the most pleasant city in France in which to cycle. And we’re not about to tell you otherwise, with the bicycle plan to develop cycle paths throughout Paris. So get on your bike and set off on an adventure to discover all the riches of Paris and the Île-de-France region. In 2 hours, you can even explore as far as Versailles!
Play sports for free every Sunday in Paris
Every Sunday, the City of Paris organizes outdoor group sports classes. It’s an opportunity to discover new disciplines, and above all, to work out while having fun. Tai-chi, fitness, boxing, gymnastics… There’s sure to be a sport you’ll love! Please note that these sports sessions are open until May 24!
