Next summer, you might just see the Seine in a whole new light. For the first time, a river festival— set to become an annual event— will take place on Paris’s iconic river. From Meudon to Rueil-Malmaison via La Défense, The Flow festival promises three days of festivities to celebrate culture and reconnect residents with their river… Here’s what you need to know!
The first river festival is coming to Paris in 2027
Organized by The Flow, this one-of-a-kind festival aims to reconnect city dwellers with their rivers through a festive, immersive, and community-driven program spanning three days.
While the program is still brief at this point, we know there will be floating art installations and artistic performances on the water, a rich and eclectic musical lineup, as well as a pop-up village offering food and drink… The icing on the cake: the audience will be seated along the riverbanks or aboard small riverboats so they don’t miss a moment of the show.
Introductory sessions in stand-up paddleboarding, rowing, and kayaking will also be on the program to help participants discover these sports.
In total, 15 riverside municipalities will be involved in this major project. Beyond the event’s cultural and festive aspects, the festival aims to change the river’s image and rebuild the connection between residents and the river by creating a truly unifying annual event, while raising public awareness of the river’s biodiversity.
