Less than an hour from Paris, you can rediscover the Seine through the eyes of Monet, Morisot, and Signac. This summer, a cruise departs from Conflans-Sainte-Honorine to explore the landscapes that attracted so many artists in the 19th century. A trip on the water that combines art, anecdotes, and exploration of the Île-de-France riverbanks—all without having to leave the region.
An Impressionist Cruise Between Conflans and La Frette-sur-Seine
The cruise begins at the pier on Place Fouillère, on the banks of the Seine. The boat then departs from Conflans-Sainte-Honorine and travels down the river to La Frette-sur-Seine, before returning to its… The round-trip cruise lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes and passes through an area where the water, hillsides, and villages have often served as subjects for painters.
During the cruise, a guide discusses the artists who worked along the valleys of the Seine and the Oise. The tour highlights artists such as Charles-François Daubigny, Berthe Morisot, Claude Monet, Albert Marquet, Paul Signac, Louis Hayet, and Renefer. While they did not all paint from exactly the same spot or during the same period, their works all share the beauty of the river as a source of inspiration or a subject.
Above all, the boat allows you to observe these landscapes from the river, offering a perspective quite different from that seen along roads or walking paths. Wooded riverbanks give way to houses facing the water, and you can also catch a glimpse of all the houseboats moored at the docks.

This season, the Painters’ Cruise is once again scheduled for Sundays, August 2 and September 6, 2026, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The fare is 19 euros for adults and 13 euros for children ages 7 to 11. The cruise is free for children under 7, but reservations are required for all participants.
From Paris, you can reach Conflans-Sainte-Honorine via Line J, departing from Saint-Lazare Station. Once there, the cruise can easily be extended with a stroll along the riverbanks.
