When we think of a cruise near Paris, we often picture the Seine. Yet, to the east of the capital, the Marne also offers some rather unique experiences. Among them is an option that should appeal to aperitif lovers: beer and cheese tasting cruises, organized aboard the Francilien departing from Lagny-sur-Marne.
Beer and cheese tastings along the river
The concept is simple: for an hour and a half, the boat glides gently along the Marne while participants sample several local beers paired with cheeses and regional specialties. All this takes place at aperitif time, often just as the sun begins to set over the riverbanks.
The experience highlights products from Seine-et-Marne in particular. On the menu: Tomme de Saint-Thibault, local charcuterie, and a selection of craft beers served as tastings. Some events are even hosted by brewers who present the different beer styles, brewing methods, and pairing suggestions available on board.
And it must be said that the setting plays a big part too. During the trip, the boat glides past the landscapes along the banks of the Marne, amid greenery, small houses, and reflections on the water. An atmosphere quite far removed from Paris, even though you’re just a few train stops away from the capital.

These outings are part of the program offered by Cap sur la Marne, a collective that organizes several themed cruises on the river each year: nature walks, chocolate cruises, creative workshops, flora and fauna excursions, and even sketching along the river.
Boarding takes place at the Marne and Gondoire river stop in Lagny-sur-Marne. Allow about 25 minutes from Paris on Line P to Lagny-Thorigny station before heading to the pier.
An original getaway idea for sunny days, combining drinks, a boat ride, and the great outdoors… without leaving the Île-de-France region.
