The warm weather is here, and with it comes the prospect of lovely walks! Whether at the highest point in Île-de-France or in a nature park near Paris , there’s no shortage of options. This time, we invite you to discover a forest little known to Parisians: the Bois Saint-Martin. A 280-hectare protected natural area, long closed to the public, yet recently opened to visitors!
The Bois Saint-Martin: a secret spot finally open to everyone
This vast 280-hectare forest spans the municipalities of Noisy-le-Grand, Villiers-sur-Marne, and Le Plessis-Trévise. Once private, since November 2021 it has offered a massive open-air playground for all nature lovers.
A true green lung of eastern Paris, the Bois Saint-Martin is home to exceptional flora and fauna. Dotted with majestic trees, some of which are over a century old, you’ll discover a highly preserved natural environment. The luckiest visitors may spot deer, red squirrels, or even playful foxes during their walks.
Carpets of ferns, meadows, and ponds also make up this magical setting. Since this natural environment is very fragile, bicycles and dogs are not allowed to avoid disturbing the ecosystem and the habitats of various species… Certain areas are also protected by fences. This won’t stop you from fully enjoying this natural oasis, which is especially delightful on sunny days!
Location: Saint-Martin Forest – accessible via the RER E
