An enchanted stroll in Samois-sur-Seine
After proposing some beautiful walks, notably in the villages of Barbizon and Gerberoy or more recently Milly-la-Forêt once again, we head for the Seine-et-Marne department to discover one of its most beautiful jewels. We’ve named Samois-sur-Seine! With a population of just 2,200, the village has managed to preserve its peacefulness over the years, while offering a vibrant local life.
With its picturesque lanes and sandstone houses, Samois-sur-Seine retains all its charm of yesteryear thanks to these small vestiges of the Middle Ages. In this respect, the city is perfectly suited to a short visit, both in its heart and along the banks of the Seine. Let yourself wander through the little alleyways and sentes (the name given to the streets of the time), but also along the towpath, which leads to the Queue de la Fontaine. You’ll be able to admire the small villas along the Seine that give the area its charm. Other points of interest in the town include the Tour de Samois, the wash house and Saint-Hilaire church.
Popular at all times, the little village has played host to such greats as Alfred de Musset, Paul Signac and Django Reinhardt. Follow in the footsteps of these artists and treat yourself to a stroll through Samois. With its constantly bustling local life, you can also enjoy colorful seasonal activities.
So, for a short outing on a sunny day or even a weekend, here’s a great idea for a walk near Paris!
