Who would have thought that the old Montrouge-Ceinture station would one day become… a restaurant! This crazy idea came from Poinçon, the establishment that has occupied the walls of this century-old station since 2019. It’s a somewhat magical place, completely unexpected!
A little-known restaurant in Paris… that has had 1001 lives

Inaugurated in 1867 during the Universal Exhibition, the Montrouge-Ceinture station was part of the Petite Ceinture, one of the capital’s first circular railway networks. Thanks to it, thousands of Parisians were able to travel from one neighborhood to another. Straddling the tracks for over 150 years, it enjoyed great success at the end of the 19th century. But in 1934, everything changed: the line closed to passenger traffic, before seeing occasional trains running for several decades… The building gradually lost its railway use, but remained occupied by various businesses throughout the 20th century. Threatened with demolition in the 2000s, the station was ultimately saved thanks to the efforts of local residents and the neighborhood council! In the 2010s, a conversion project was launched, and in 2019, the site was finally reborn in a new form, becoming a cultural and community space.

Five years later, the Poinçon restaurant opened its doors. You will discover a completely renovated 400 m² dining area and a pretty 250 m² terrace overlooking the Petite Ceinture. As a nod to its railway past, the restaurant is naturally called Poinçon (in homage to the tool used to punch tickets in stations). Here, a medley of seasonal dishes made with fresh produce has replaced the transport tickets. Beetroot tart as a starter, pollock fillet or sausage as a main course, chocolate mousse for dessert… Whether for lunch, dinner or brunch, you’re sure to find a good reason to try the entire menu, which changes regularly depending on the season’s produce.
The establishment regularly hosts exhibitions and concerts… As you can see, it’s a lively place that’s open to everyone. Definitely worth a visit on Valentine’s Day to impress your loved one this year.
