Have you ever wondered, while out for a run or a game of basketball, whether Paname is the best place to enjoy a sporting activity? A recent study by Compare the market Australia will give you the answer!
This insurance comparator looked at the phenomenon of “sportcations”, in other words sports-themed vacations, and evaluated several cities around the world!
Paris, 2nd European city for sport
The number of parks and outdoor spaces for sports activities, the presence of clubs and teams, dedicated bars, large-capacity stadiums, the hosting of major sporting events such as the Olympic Games or tennis tournaments… Seven criteria were reviewed to establish three rankings (one for US cities, one for Australian cities and one for European cities).
In Europe, we find London in first place and just behind it, Paris! The City of Light comes out on top thanks to its many parks and green spaces for sporting activities (207 according to the study), its hosting of the French Open and the Olympic Games, which it has hosted three times since 1896 (just like the British capital).
As well as ranking the world’s cities (in the United States, New York tops the list, and in Australia, Sydney), the study underlines the popularity of sports vacations, those motivated by the desire to attend a sporting event or practice a particular activity.
Having welcomed over 11 million tourists during the first part of the Olympic Games, will Paris continue to attract sports tourists?
