Together on the Champs-Elysées on Saturday, September 14! That’s the wish of Emmanuel Macron, who has announced that he wants to celebrate the athletes of the Olympic and Paralympic Games of Paris 2024 with a grand parade down the most beautiful avenue in the world!
The Champs-Elysées, the place for all gatherings
This is the site where Parisians are accustomed to go during festive moments that mark the unity of a nation, or as part of protest movements. From the traditional défilé du 14 juillet, to New Year’s festivities, via sports victories (the parade of the Bleus bus during the Football World Cup in 1998, then again in 2018), the Champs-Elysées, it’s where it all happens!
To close the exceptional sequence that France will have experienced this summer thanks to the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, President Emmanuel Macron decided to pull out all the stops! The announcement came down a few days ago, there will indeed be a parade to honor the athletes of the O.G.!
A grand parade to extend the spirit of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games
It was with a short and effective tweet that Emmanuel Macron unveiled this good news! It’s sure to put a smile on the faces of all those who will have been vibrating for weeks to the rhythm of the Olympic Games.
Besides the date and location, we don’t know much more about the déroulement de cette commémoration, which will attract thousands of visitors to the most beautiful avenue in the world. Will the event take the form of a parade of buses going down the avenue, or a walking procession? Or both? We can also wonder whether musical artists will be invited to the party and what the security arrangements will be!
All scenarios are conceivable for this event, whose primary objective is to celebrate all the athletes, the values of sport and living together that marked this summer, which we’ll remember for a long time to come!
A date and venue to remember for the Olympic Games parade, on Saturday September 14 on the Champs-Elysées!
