As you know, the capital is lucky enough to be home to many gems, some of which are even historic! This magnificent swimming pool, which is over 100 years old, is a perfect example. The Château-Landon swimming pool has finally reopened after more than seven years of waiting. A little-known gem for Parisians, located not far from the Gare de l’Est train station, it is well worth a visit.
The oldest swimming pool in Paris finally reopens
Opened in 1884, the Château-Landon swimming pool was the first indoor pool in the capital. Even back then, over 140 years ago, the water was heated using an ingenious system connected to factories in La Villette. This was a feat for the time, allowing many Parisians to swim in very pleasant water.

With its“ocean liner” style and magnificent cabins with colorful doors, the pool has lost none of its charm. But in 2018, everything changed when its vaulted ceiling threatened to collapse… The pool was then closed for obvious safety reasons, and it wasn’t until 2024 that work could finally begin!

Inaugurated on February 23, the pool has been completely renovated. The pool’s stunning glass roof has also been restored to its former glory!
