As you know, Paris has no shortage of beautiful places to visit. Some are over 100 years old and take you back in time, while others are listed as historic monuments and are well worth a visit. Among the capital’s most beautiful hidden gems is the sublime Hermès boutique in the 6th arrondissement. It’s a completely crazy place, pure Art Deco style, which was previously… a swimming pool! And as you’ll see, this listed building really has something to surprise you.
A century-old listed swimming pool converted into a luxury boutique

Before becoming the sublime luxury boutique nestled on Rue de Sèvres, this building, listed as a historic monument, was a swimming pool. Built in 1935 by architect Lucien Béguet, this absolutely prodigious Art Deco swimming pool was an architectural feat for its time. Indeed, it was one of the first to reproduce waves artificially, thanks to an ingenious mechanism. At the time, only guests of the prestigious Lutetia hotel could enjoy hours of splashing around. It was an elegant and refined place! Then came World War II! Life changed for the swimming pool, which became a reception center for all the survivors of the concentration camps.
The years passed, and the pool opened its doors to the public for many years before closing in 1970… It wasn’t until 2010 that it reopened. But this time, silk scarves and luxury bags replaced floats and swimsuits… Completely restored but also transformed since 2021, the swimming pool has become a magnificent boutique! Your eyes will never tire of admiring the walls and floors covered with colorful enamel! Bathed in light, the huge 1,300 m² boutique showcases all the expertise of the house. You will see magnificent ash wood huts standing proudly in the center, as well as a monumental staircase. Between the homewares and the latest collections, everything immerses you in the unparalleled expertise of Hermès. An incredible boutique to discover!
