With its wood paneling, murals, candlesticks scattered here and there, and paintings, it almost feels like you’re on a movie set.
In fact, it’s no coincidence that there are so many paintings here, since the neighborhood’s artists used to pay for their meals in exchange for a painting. And it’s safe to say the restaurant has quite the collection. A longtime hub for artists, the greatest among them would gather here over a glass of absinthe—the house specialty—including Van Gogh, Picasso, and Manet.
You’ll savor the essentials of French cuisine, such as a beautiful Normandy-style rib of beef to share, duck à la Suzette served with melt-in-your-mouth potatoes, or cream-stuffed cabbage with crushed hazelnuts for dessert.
