Faced with the expected influx of visitors after its reopening, Notre-Dame de Paris and its teams are working hard behind the scenes to ensure the monument’s return in the most favorable and harmonious conditions possible. In just over three months, the doors of the cathédrale Notre-Dame will finally reopen, more than five years after the devastating fire that ravaged its roof and spire. Many tourists, as well as Parisians in love with the monument, are expected to visit the square. So, while there were around 10 million annual visitors before the tragedy, we’re expecting around 15 million for this exceptional period.
However, with its 6,000 square meters of floor space, the cathedral can only hold 2,500 people at a time. So to prepare for this massive flow, the diocese has put in place and will be putting in place a good number of measures to smooth things over. These include the implementation of a free ticketing service, designed to welcome visitors more securely and help them avoid the queues. Visitors will be able to book time slots in advance, enabling them to prepare their visit as well as possible. Entirely free of charge, it will initially enable individuals to book, then in a second phase (six months later), booking will be open to groups. Also, to ensure the spontaneity of the visit, the teams also specified that it would be possible to book to within one or two days, and that coming without booking was also conceivable.
