As you know, the Paris metro, and more generally the Île-de-France Mobilité network, has been modernizing its network for several years. The aim? To make journeys more reliable, safer and faster. But also to prepare for the arrival of new metro lines! However, with all this work comes the inevitable discontinuation of certain lines… And 2026 will be no exception. Many RER and metro lines will be affected, including one of Paris’s most popular stations, which will be closed for nine months…
Which metro lines will be closed for renovation in 2026?
In detail, we know that :
- Line 4 will be closed between Château Rouge and Châtelet between April 20 and May 1ᵉʳ. It will be closed again between Les Halles and Vavin stations from July 6 to 24 (i.e. 19 days!).
- Line 12 will be fully closed from 10 p.m. two to three times a week between January and June, and between Porte de Versailles and Mairie d’Issy stations on Sunday May 31. This summer, the line will be closed between Jules Joffrin and Concorde from July 16 to 26. Closures after 10 p.m. are also scheduled four times a month.
- Line 13 will close between Asnières – Gennevilliers Les Courtilles and La Fourche on the weekend of February 28. It will then be completely closed until 12 p.m. on several Sundays (March 15 and 29, May 3 and 17, June 7 and 28). Plaisance station will be closed between April 9 and 12. This summer, traffic will be interrupted between Saint-Denis Université and Porte de Saint-Ouen from July 31 to August 17, 2026. Porte de Vanves station will be closed from August 6 to 9, 2026 inclusive. Finally, please note that the line will be completely closed on Sunday mornings , August 2, 16 and 30.
- Line 8 will be closed between Balard and Concorde stations from August 20 to 27 inclusive. But the biggest change will take place at République station. This station will be closed for line 8 from July 22, 2026 to April 2027 – a total of 9 months!
And the same applies to the RER trains…
Trains will not be spared from the work!

- On RER line A, the line will be closed from August 8 to 23, 2026, between Vincennes (not included) and Noisy-le-Grand – Mont d’Est. Nation station will be closed from June 29 to August 30.
- RER B stations Gare du Nord and Bourg-La-Reine will close from July 25 to August 7. La Croix de Berny / Robinson stations will also be closed from August 8 to 16.
- The RER C will be interrupted from July 15 to August 22 inclusive from Gare d’Austerlitz westwards.
