A new barge will appear on the Quai de Montebello, joining the many cultural boats already moored there. At the foot of Notre-Dame Cathedral, a new floating cultural center has been added to the list, and this time it’s literature that will be in the spotlight!
A new literary barge soon to be moored under Notre-Dame
Already behind the famous Fluctuart, the Quai de la Photo and, in another register, the Son de la Terre, the Artflux group has unveiled the outline of its future project on the water: Nanna. The spirit of this new cultural barge: a place dedicated to literature, but also a lively bar and restaurant area. Conceived as a veritable library on the water, it will open its doors to the public in the spring of 2026. It’s the perfect opportunity to indulge in a bit of reading as the warm weather approaches.
Part bookshop, part library, this space will bring together some 5,000 books, ranging from the great classics to more contemporary literature, poetry and even comic strips. With a focus on free access and second-hand books, the barge will offer books free of charge, to be read on site or borrowed. You can also drop off your own books to give them a second life.
But like all Artflux establishments, a special emphasis will be placed on programming. Between writing workshops, book signings, book presentations and afterworks, a total of twenty monthly events will punctuate the barge each season.
Whether you’re looking to find a nugget, enjoy a quiet moment of reading or give your books a second life, this is a place that ticks all the boxes. All that’s left now is to wait quietly until spring for Nanna’s inauguration.
