Rightly considered one of the best in the world, fresh, generous Greek cuisine is a hit with gourmet Parisians. Grand Café d’Athènes filakia and Etsi hellenic addresses abound in the four corners of the capital, and it’s not for the faint-hearted! If the list is long, we’re happy to add to it, and with Kalimera, we have a very tempting spot to discover at Ground Control.
A fine Hellenic meal at Kalimera
There are plenty of good addresses in the Ground Control hall, and Kalimera is no exception. Founded by a former London-based trader who drew on his Greek roots, this restaurant exudes authenticity and Hellenic tradition. As proof, the olive oil used in many recipes has been produced in Laconia for over 200 years, on the land of the founder’s parents! Otherwise, count on good fresh produce and generous recipes, as is the Greek tradition!
On the menu, the choice naturally turns to an emblem of Greek street food: delicious souvlaki served in a whole-wheat pita. In beef, chicken or halloumi versions, pitas are served with tzatziki, hummus, cherry tomatoes or fennel pickles, depending on the recipe. Another way to indulge is with a Greek salad or a Kalimera Box consisting of a protein, chickpea salad and small potatoes. Small mezzés for sharing are also on the menu, so you can enjoy a meal together.
All that remains is to punctuate this culinary adventure with a touch of sweetness, and the choice will be difficult between a good traditional Greek yoghurt and a Portokalopita, a delicious orange cake to enjoy with a coffee. It’s up to you to try it out!
