Villa Frochot: The Most Haunted House in Paris?
This stunning neo-Gothic building in the 9th arrondissement has always fascinated Parisians. Jean Renoir, Toulouse-Lautrec, and even Django Reinhardt lived there for a few years. Its quiet, leafy setting, just a stone’s throw from Place Saint-Georges, makes it the perfect place to recharge right in the heart of Paris.
But the Villa Frochot is also known among Parisians for its grim incidents… Indeed , the house was the scene of the murder of the housekeeper of the director of the Folies Bergère, who is said to have been brutally murdered several years ago. Furthermore, the sudden and similar deaths of two of its former owners have only fueled the rumors and fears… In fact, Vincent Massé and Matthieu Galey both died 100 years apart from the same illness, in the exact same spot in the house…

For some, the conclusion is obvious: the house is cursed! Others swear that ghosts have been lurking there ever since those terrible tragedies…
Uninhabited for many years, the mansion is now occupied by its new owner, who prefers to smile at these legends rather than worry about them. Keep in mind, however, that Avenue Frochot is strictly private: you cannot visit the house or access Avenue Frochot. However, you can catch a glimpse of it behind the gates, and perhaps you’ll spot a few lost souls there…
