Missed out on the Opening Ceremony of the Paris Games? You still have a chance to taste the Olympic magic on August 28, thanks to the kick-off of the Paralympics. More than just a catch-up session, it’s a magnificent celebration of accessible sport, and the festivities kick off on Wednesday with a beautiful opening on the place de la Concorde. And while you’ll have to fork out a small ticket to get a front-row seat, you should know that you’ll also be able to take advantage of 15,000 free seats to watch the show!
How to attend the Paralympics opening ceremony for free
Olympic fever has barely subsided, and we’re already turning our attention to the other major sporting event of the summer in Paris: the Paralympic Games. On this occasion, almost 4,400 athletes will be competing in the competition of a lifetime to make their nation shine and win medals. And to kick off the festivities, the meeting point is set for this Wednesday on the Place de la Concorde for the opening ceremony. Once again, millions of people will marvel at the marvellous spectacle orchestrated by Thomas Jolly.
If you haven’t managed to get your hands on a ticket to attend, you can always try your luck for access to a free ticket. Indeed, in addition to the “traditional” bleachers deployed around the Place de la Concorde, two free zones have also been set up on either side of the Avenue des Champs-Élysées accommodating 6,000 and 9,000 spectators respectively.
It’s a good deal, but you’ll need to think ahead if you want to secure valuable admission. Doors open at 5pm, and it’s first come, first served, especially as the gauge will be strict! We therefore advise you to arrive as early as possible to make sure you don’t miss out on the show!
