Did you know? 2025 is the France-Brazil season. And among the major events taking place in Paris, those in the Grand Palais promise to be colorful. Among them, a huge Brazilian ball, which we told you about a short while ago. In addition to this popular celebration, the Grand Palais d’Été invites a famous Brazilian artist to the Nave. But what’s the story behind his huge art installation?
An XXL crochet art installation
This summer, Brazilian artist Ernesto Neto literally transforms the Nave of the Grand Palais into an incredible sensory immersive space, accessible to the public free of charge. Here, his work Nosso Barco Tambor Terra (meaning Our Earth Drum Boat) unfurls before the astonished eyes of visitors. A monumental artistic installation made of crochet, bark and spices, inviting aesthetes to contemplate and reflect.
Nosso Barco Tambor Terra will blow your mind

Designed to be explored and experienced, the Nosso Barco Tambor Terra multi-sensory environment fundamentally questions our relationship with nature. It explores the continuity between the human body and that of the Earth, drawing on manual labor and ancestral know-how. With this immense immersive work of art, artist Ernesto Neto invites us to share in communion. The XXL installation, on display at the Grand Palais from Friday June 6, features a wide range of instruments from around the world. Visitors are even invited to play the drums concealed inside the crochet work. The essence of this immersive, participatory installation? To demonstrate the power and richness of diversity and our cultural differences.
