This autumn, the Musée Pablo Picasso continues its program with a colorful exhibition! It’s been almost 15 years since Pollock had the right to a Parisian retrospective, and now it’s here, thanks to the institution nestled in the Haut Marais. Until January 19, you can discover the fruits of Jackson’s early work before he became Pollock, and admire his first experiments.
Pollock’s early works in the spotlight at this fine exhibition
When you hear the name Pollock, chances are you’re thinking of those multicolored paintings created by spraying paint onto canvas. But before becoming the undisputed master of dripping, Jackson Pollock experimented a great deal, notably with cubism and primitive art. It is precisely this period (from 1934 to 1947) that is highlighted today at the Musée Picasso.
You’ll be able to contemplate numerous paintings, engravings and even sculptures from Jackson Pollock ‘s early work, as well as that of artists who inspired him, such as Picasso, André Masson and Lee Krasner. Inspired first by Native American art and then by the European avant-garde, it took Pollock some time to find his feet and become a true benchmark of abstract art.
One of the most interesting exhibitions of the end of the year, and a must-see for all art lovers in the capital.
