And you can view these objects free of charge before they are sold!
A free exhibition of the personal effects of Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé
Organized by Sotheby’ s, this exceptional free exhibition takes place in the prestigious setting of Paris Fashion Week Homme. Some twenty nude drawings will be auctioned, illustrating a more intimate side of the artist.
The works reveal masculine silhouettes of great sensuality, evoking aesthetes sculpted like Greek gods. Some models are scantily clad, while others reveal bold poses and more explicit attributes. These drawings, imbued with poetry and lasciviousness, testify to a very personal aspect of Saint Laurent’s creative genius.
” This is the first time such an ensemble has been offered at auction,” said Florent Jeanniard, vice-president of Sotheby’s France, in an interview with AFP.
You will be able to view these drawings, as well as other pieces from the Saint Laurent – Bergé private collection, free of charge.
Of course, all the works have been authenticated by the Yves Saint Laurent – Authentification committee. Prior to the sale, the collection will be on public view at Sotheby’s in the 8th arrondissement of Paris.
Nude drawings, but not only…
While the nude sketches form the central element of this exhibition, other artistic treasures enrich this unique event. These include Polaroid photographs by Andy Warhol, Helmut Newton, Alice Springs and Martine Barrat, illustrating the couple’s eclectic tastes. In addition, pieces of art acquired over time, such as a porcelain medallion dating from the Empire period, will also be auctioned.
A rare opportunity to learn a little more about one of the lesser-known aspects of Yves Saint Laurent’s life and creativity.
