A highlight of the Paris summer season, the open-air cinema at La Villette returns, more exhilarated than ever, with an expanded formula. After its JO break, the most popular of open-air cinemas is back!
La Villette cinema under the stars
It’s one of the most eagerly awaited events for Parisians and film buffs alike! For the past thirty years, the open-air cinema at La Villette has been delighting Parisians and tourists alike with its free, open-air screenings every year from late July onwards! A popular and accessible event, it attracts hundreds of people – tribes of friends, families, couples or solo spectators – who come to enjoy the magic of cinema, with their feet up in the grass of the Prairie du Triangle! Adventure, science fiction, comedy, drama, foreign productions, animated films… there’s a film for everyone!
The Cinéma en plein air de la Villette returns with a new formula
Absent in 2024 due to the 2024 Olympic Games and the hosting of Club France, the Cinéma en plein air de la Villette, has taken the opportunity to make some changes!
The big news is the addition of an extra session! At the big film of the evening (around 9pm), the Cinéma en plein air de la Villette will be programming a screening at 6pm. It will be family-oriented, with productions suitable for children aged 4 and over. Another small change is that the main screening will be brought forward to 9pm, to allow the public to stay until the end and catch the last metros!
Last but not least, the event’s DNA remains unchanged: an alluring program of feature-length films, drawing on French and international cinema, the great successes of the 7th art or more confidential productions, and a varied palette of genres to appeal to cinema-lovers of all stripes! In 2025, the Cinéma en plein air will be moving, jumping, singing and dancing to the theme of “Corps et accords”. Here’s the complete list of films, with screening times:
