In the summer of 2023, we told you about the three Parisian sites where bathing would be made possible in 2025. Today, we’re relying on a report from the Atelier parisien d’urbanisme (Apur) dating from April 2024, which highlights 32 locations throughout the Île-de-France region.
These 32 sites in the Paris region are eligible for swimming in 2025
After the Olympic Games, it’s time to improve relations between the people of Paris and the region’s rivers. With this in mind, a study launched by Apur has brought together the candidacies of several communes around the Paris region. The report reveals that 49 candidates were shortlisted and that “a letter co-signed by the Prefect of the Île-de-France Region, the Mayor of Paris and the President of the Greater Paris Metropolis was sent to all elected representatives on the subject. The aim was to inform elected representatives of the steps being taken between now and 2024, and to launch a call for expressions of interest in opening summer bathing facilities in their communes along the Seine and Marne rivers.”
So, for the 32 sites still in the running, “the work being carried out is of various kinds: bringing bad sewage connections of certain buildings into compliance, actions on water plant treatment discharges, actions to connect boats, actions to reduce discharges into the Seine during rainy weather, including the creation of a large water recovery basin in Paris, and lastly, reducing the volume of rainwater by de-silting soils.”
All that remains now is for us to wait patiently until summer and see how the work progresses.
