The Carnavalet Museum: A magnificent museum free all year round in Paris
For 145 years, this magnificent museum has offered a true journey through time, right into the heart of Paris’s history. Here, you can discover what our beloved capital was like throughout the ages, from prehistory to the present day. Througha rich and varied collection, you’ll discover paintings, sculptures, and personal items that belonged to major historical figures such as Napoleon and Marie Antoinette.In total, more than 600,000 works of art and historical artifacts arepreserved and on display within these walls, a large portion of which is free to view year-round.
A sumptuous, free garden hidden within the Carnavalet Museum
But that’s not all—the Carnavalet Museum is fortunate to feature a 1,337 m² green oasis. A true gem in the “French garden” style, visitors can explore it right after their tour of the museum. With its sculptures and trimmed boxwood hedges,the place exudes serenity! And with a heat wave on the horizon, the Paris City Hall has exceptionally granted permission for it to remain open 24 hours a day through July 13. All the more reason to discover one of Paris’s least-known gardens.
