The 160th Anniversary of the Carnavalet Museum
On Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4, get ready for a festive weekend at one of Paris’s oldest museums: the Carnavalet Museum. The museum, which is celebrating its 160th anniversary this year, promises two days of joy, celebration, and surprises. Themed tours, a creative workshop, a concert…
The anniversary weekend, themed “Parisian Dream,” will kick off on Saturday with various tours, followed in the evening by an immersive game designed especially for the museum’s 160th anniversary! The game will revolve around the permanent collections and play with the conventions of history…. An immersive adventure that’s sure to leave a lasting impression.
The evening event will continue in the museum’s garden, where various musicians and DJs will set the tone for the evening, including the funk-pop-soul group Nodz from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Mancha BRS until 11 p.m. It’s a lovely way to discover the unique beauty of this green space, which is open to everyone year-round. Two drag performance sessions, inspired by the Parisian dream, will be held during the day, followed by a drag bingo from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 4.
And to add a little sparkle to your life (and to your eyes, literally), a pop-up makeup bar will be set up in the garden for much of Saturday evening. It will offer you stunning, glittering looks so you can shine brightly until the end of the night.
Sunday will be a more laid-back affair, featuring themed tours focusing on the women in the collections as well as “Queer Paris,” followed by a dreamlike creative space… The full program is available on the Musée Carnavalet website.
As you can see, this festive and free weekend will give you a whole new perspective on the museum. Note that all activities offered over the weekend will befree, subject to availability.
