The Institut National des Jeunes Aveugles, founded in 1785, offered the first model of schooling and learning adapted for the visually impaired. It did not occupy the building we know today until 1844. Located in the heart of the 7th arrondissement, the building is a listed historic monument, and its concert hall, with its exceptional acoustics(hearing being a privileged sense in this school), hosts numerous musical events.
Founded in 1911 by the Prince of Monaco, the Maison de l’Océan aims to promote and develop knowledge of the oceans. With its style, albeit atypical in the heart of Paris’s Vᵉ arrondissement, of an Italian Renaissance palace, it’s the perfect place to share a moment of musical culture. Architectural details and paintings, once sublimated by candlelight, harmonize and create an atmosphere like no other.
In the 6th arrondissement of Paris, the neoclassical façade of the Odéon Théâtre de l’Europe proudly stands out from the crowd. Listed as a historic monument since October 7, 1947, this Italian-style theater is a jewel in the crown of Paris. It hosts numerous cultural events, and is a major player in the capital’s cultural life.
This historic venue is a fixture on the Parisian stage, and has been the home of many illusionists and prestidigitators. Its auditorium is listed as a historic monument, in particular for its stage curtain made from a canvas by Jules Chéret depicting characters from the Commedia dell’arte. What better venue for these classic tributes than one alreadyimbued with magic.
This traditional family circus is a true Parisian nugget. Operating year-round in the 15th arrondissement, it’s one of the few circuses in the capital that isn’t nomadic, and takes its name from the Bormann-Moreno family who founded it. Come and discover its modular big top under the glow of thousands of candles, and treat yourself to a concert in an atypical venue.
