With this gloomy weather, it’s safe to say: the vacations are already over. But that doesn’t stop Parisians from already wanting to pack their bags for other horizons. So if you can’t go on vacation again for a few weeks, we’re taking you… to the 19ᵉ arrondissement. This is where you’ll find a change of scene, the Butte Bergeyre. A magnificent spot with a unique view of the Sacré-Cœur.
The Butte Bergeyre: a secret hilltop with a view of the Sacré-Cœur
If you like to get up high, and discover magnificent viewpoints, head for the 19ᵉ arrondissement. Leave the bustling Colonel-Fabien district, then turn the corner of rue George Lardennois. It’s here that you’ll discover one of Paris’s least prized buttes: La Butte Bergeyre.

Tucked away in a quiet residential area, the Butte Bergeyre offers a unique view of the whole of Paris. From its 100 m height, you’ll need a bit of courage to reach the top, but I promise you, it’s well worth the effort. From up there, you’ll be able to see not only a charming vineyard, but also the Sacré-Coeur in the background. A delightful sight to behold all year round.
Covered with mills in the 17ᵉ century, the butte has undergone several transformations. A large hospital and amusement park were built here in the 1900s, followed by a stadium 18 years later. The latter hosted some of the events of the 1924 Olympic Games. In 1925, the mound was sold, and a number of attractive detached houses were built.

100 years later, the area has not changed, and it’s a pleasure to stroll around, enjoying the peace and quiet. A charming place, unknown to most Parisians, that we strongly recommend you explore.
Location: Butte Bergeyre, 75019 Paris – Between avenue Simon-Bolivar to the south, avenue Mathurin-Moreau to the north and rue Manin to the east.
