Right now at the Bourse de Commerce, it’s possible to walk through thick fog, thanks to the magical and poetic installation by artist Fujiko Nakaya, known for her famous fog sculptures. The experience invites visitors to physically move through the mist and watch the central space transform. A work of art that also finds its way onto your plate!
An unusual dessert to enjoy at the Bourse de Commerce in Paris
From art to the plate? It’s really just a small step! Fujiko Nakaya’s immersive artwork finds its culinary extension at the very top of the building, within the restaurant La Halle aux Grains. The establishment offers a delicious afternoon tea set priced at 19 euros. This includes three absolutely delicious pastries to share. But the focus is mainly on the dessert of the moment, specially crafted to echo the misty artwork on the ground floor.
Titled “Under a Cloud of Mist,” this creation arrives at the table in the form of an impressive, immaculate, fluffy cloud. Hidden beneath this ethereal structure are a crisp lemon cookie and a black sesame cream. The dark color and texture of the cream were designed to evoke the raw appearance of the Bourse de Commerce’s concrete floor. The tasting experience is accompanied by a playful mechanical surprise: the cloud dissolves and melts instantly upon the slightest contact with the liquid black sesame cream.
This interplay of textures and visual echoes directly connects the museum’s architecture and temporary installations to the creativity of the kitchens on its top floor. It’s the perfect way to spend a pleasant moment in one of Paris’s most discreet tea rooms!
