Organized by the Greater Paris Bakers’ Union, the competition for the best sandwich in Île-de-France has just announced its winner. This third edition brought together more than forty artisan bakers from across the region, evaluated by a panel of professionals based on several criteria, including taste, the balance of ingredients, and the quality of the bread.
Where can you find the best sandwich in Île-de-France?
This year, while the quality was high and the competition fierce, it was the Pépite bakery in the 11th arrondissement that took home the title. The duo of bakers won over the jury with recipes deemed balanced and delicious, made entirely in-house. The competition required contestants to present three different sandwiches—featuring chicken, fish, and a vegetarian option—to test the artisans’ versatility.
On the podium, Pépite is followed by Maison Marnay in the 4th arrondissement, while Le Fournil Gourmand in Noisy-le-Grand takes third place. The ranking also includes several locations throughout the Île-de-France region, five of which are within Paris proper.

Long associated with the simple ham-and-butter sandwich, the sandwich is now evolving toward more elaborate creations, featuring fresh ingredients, artisanal breads, and more original combinations. The contest aims precisely to highlight this expertise and encourage innovation among bakers in the Île-de-France region.
With this first-place finish, Pépite Bakery has become the new go-to spot for sandwich lovers in Île-de-France. And the story doesn’t end there: the bakery in the 11th arrondissement will represent Greater Paris in the national finals for France’s best sandwich, scheduled for May during the Fête du Pain.
